The iKickback Survival System Tool Kit

All of our lessons are posted in the We Kickback Active Learning Community.
Here we discuss the Core Concepts upon which the physical techniques are based.
Our first group of tools: Awareness, Avoidance and Attack accurately indicate
our philosophy that physical tactics are a last resort. By learning how to harness our awareness and employ a variety of avoidance techniques, we can minimize our chances
of every having to use the physical techniques. If push comes to shove however,
it's important not just to defend, but to 'kickback' and attack.
Awareness Avoidance Attack
Awareness is always your first and best line of defence. It has been said that a true martial artist never has to fight. This is also our goal at iKickback. Repeatedly, it has been shown that rapists and violent offenders look for easy targets. It is your awareness, above all, that ensures you are not one of them. We'll teach you how to tap in to your inner dialogue to monitor the messages you're telling yourself, to key in to your body language to make sure you're sending the right message and to tune in to your intuition and use it as the valuable communicator it is. Awareness informs your ability to recognize and avoid potentially dangerous situations. You will learn  simple behaviour modifications everyone can make, such as walking with your head up and refusing to compromise your safety by listening to head phones or texting. Be aware of danger signs like the chatty stranger who reveals too many details or insists on helping after being told "no". We'll demonstrate how to use your common sense, body language, voice and self defence tools to avoid or deescalate a variety of potential dangers. We actually don't care for the term "self defence" because too often it evokes an image of a weaker victim covering up against a stronger opponent; which flies in the face of our belief that the best defence is a great offence. Even with keen awareness and best avoidance strategies, it is still possible to be faced with an attack. If this happens, you're now in a fight! There's no sugar coating it. It's important to learn how to "flick the switch": to go from being attacked, to being the attacker. This distinction is critical, and could save your life.

If physical techniques are your last resort in self defence, they better work!
We pride ourselves in including only the most effective, instinctual and easy-to learn moves in our iKickback Primal Series. There is no point learning tricky, multi-step moves you'll never remember, or totally ineffective moves that only appear to work in the classroom because a padded attacker pretends to fall down. You need to be armed with a tool kit of highly effective techniques you'll not only remember, but that can stop an attack with as little as one strike.
Tools Targets Intensity
In the iKickback Primal Series Course you'll learn how to use the tools you were born with: your mind, your intuition and every part of your body. Without question, the most effective and readily useable tools most of us have are our hands. In our Primal Series course, you'll discover how to use your very own Axe, C-Clamp, Garden Claw, Rake and Hammer. Learning to think of your hands as tools not only helps you learn the techniques properly, it also increases retention and builds the kind of confidence that itself acts as a shield. The most effective tools possible are useless against an ineffective target. At iKickback we emphasize targeting your attackers most vulnerable spots: namely the throat and eyes. We call these Command Central, because a well placed blow to either of these areas can effectively stop an attack instantly by causing a great deal of pain and/or taking away your attackers breath or sight. Remember, the idea is to give your attacker his own emergency to deal with, leaving you free to escape - and to do it as quickly and effectively as possible. Learning should be a fun and rewarding experience, but self defence training needs to be taken seriously. Think about it, if you're ever called upon to use self defence skills, it's bound to be a  totally terrifying, high-stress situation. If you've only practiced the techniques half-heartedly, or were laughing the whole time, it's unlikely you'll have the presence of mind or muscle memory to tap in to the neural pathways where they exist. It's important you train with a similar level of intensity that would replicate a real life attack.
